A murder of crows had killed a bird right outside my apartment door in Greensboro, had torn it open, and were making a grand racket while eating it. As I tried to exit, the crows went after me, chasing me nearly off-campus. They were still there when I returned home, still cawing like maniacs, and I fought my way into my place with a swinging broom. Not something I'm likely to forget.
Privately printed in an edition of (just) twenty-five copies. From the introduction:
"This book does not explain the meaning of great works of art. It is not an art history text, not a book of criticism. Nor does it give lessons in how to paint or draw or make prints. Most definitely it provides no insight in how to arrange flowers, or design rooms.
This book provides mental recipes or what may be called, somewhat presumptuously, spiritual exercises. Read the following directions without thinking of the words as directions. React to them, follow them, play with them, discard them. Up to you, of course."
This small book was designed by Loring Mortenson, 2007.
An ETV film to accompany the exhibition, "Georgia O'Keeffe: Her Carolina Story" at the Columbia Museum of Art, 2016. With Will South.
A KUED film, with Will South.
UNC-TV film, with Will South.
A Documentary film on Guy Rose, 1994, with Will South.
Sara and I made this together. I drew 48 little hands; she sewed the beautiful binding. Love it.
